What You Can Do

We have revised the document, "What You Can Do to Support Campus Equity/Faculty Equity Week." It is available for online viewing and/or download in MS-Word and Acrobat-PDF format.

Two Documentary Videos

Barabara Wolf has produced two very effective documentaries—Degrees of Shame and A Simple Matter of Justice—on contingent faculty. Their screenings have been used as starting points for very useful discussions during past Campus Equity/Fair Employment Weeks.

Reclaiming the Ivory Tower

Link to Reclaiming the Ivory Tower's website. See this new publication and organizing handbook by Joe Berry of Chicago COCAL. Jane Buck, AAUP National President, writes that "Reclaiming the Ivory Tower would be worth reading if it consisted only of the last two chapters, which could stand alone as an organizer's toolkit. It is doubly valuable for its scholarly insights into the history and sociology of the contingent faculty movement. Do buy it by the dozen and share it with your colleagues..."

Resources and Materials

Campus Equity Week (CEW) is being planned so even our colleagues with little or no organizing experience can add their energy and ideas to the project. We have begun to collect here some tools that will help new organizers and seasoned veterans. We hope you will contact the CEW Central Coordinator, Chris Storer, if you have needs, questions, or suggestions for things to include on this web site.
